McGL – You can’t buy loyalty

McGL – You can’t buy loyalty 150 150 Isabel Yorke

A lot has been said about the number of teachers at McGL, but we are proud of the loyalty and long term friendships that the school’s teachers share. Before becoming TCRGs, most of them enjoyed successful dance careers with the Academy themselves, and have between them won just about every title, including World Champion! They are now proud and excited to teach alongside Frances and pass on their experiences to new dancers. Several other former McGL dancers have started up their own dance schools, including world medal holder Danielle Arthurs at Reel Eire and SER Oireachtas Champion Ferne Turner at the Turner Academy. Others have gone on to successful show dancing careers, including former World and All Ireland Champion Stephen Brennan, who is still touring with Riverdance but is also a TCRG in his own right.

The sweet taste of success

Sometimes the hard work pays off with the highest rewards. McGL were delighted to have 2 Championship winners at the recent 2015 Great Britain Championships: Gavina Zuccarello in the Under 16 Girls and Niall Forrest in the Under 19 Men. As you can see from their faces, winning is never expected and is always a fantastic bonus.

A big congratulations to our dancers from Prague and Warsaw on some brilliant results at the Vienna Feis last weekend – their first dancing under McGL. A special congratulations to Maciek Skwarek for winning the senior mixed championship. Now we have just over 5 weeks of hard work before the Mainland Europe Oireachtas in Milan!
